NMDC Launches PPH Management Project in Kurdistan with LDS Charities and Ministry of Health

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH)—bleeding after childbirth—is the most common and dangerous complication of delivery and the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide.

To help reduce the incidence of PPH and improve its management in the Kurdistan Region, NMDC has launched a new project in cooperation with LDS Charities and the Ministry of Health.

The initiative will introduce two innovative devices to delivery units across the region: the Ellavi Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) and the Calibrated Blood Collection Drape. Thanks to the generous support of LDS Charities, NMDC has procured both devices to begin a pilot project in two hospitals in Erbil, with plans to scale up to facilities throughout the region.

To ensure proper use of the devices, a trainer from Sinapi Biomedical, the South African manufacturer, visited NMDC to provide hands-on training to NMDC trainers, obstetricians, and midwives. The trainer also met with representatives from the hospitals, the Ministry of Health, and UNFPA to support effective project implementation.

We look forward to launching the pilot project in the near future and contributing to safer, more effective maternal care in the Kurdistan Region.

خوێنبەربوونی دوای منداڵبوون (PPH)— یەکێکە لە باوترین و مەترسیدارترین کێشەی منداڵبوون و هۆکاری سەرەکی مردنی دایکان لە سەرانسەری جیهاندا.

بۆ یارمەتیدان لە کەمکردنەوەی ڕێژەی PPH و باشترکردنی چارەسەرکردنی لە هەرێمی کوردستاندا، NMDC پڕۆژەیەکی نوێی دەستپێکردووە بە هاوکاری LDS Charities و وەزارەتی تەندروستی.
